This was a super-productive year for me with a lot of projects completed and a dip into audio dramas. Many of my previous works got a facelift or added content, and as one series wrapped up, a new series started to be planned, and a new book prepped for a March 2025 release.

Publishing books and audiobooks in 2024

My biggest 2024 accomplishment is that the Madame Chalamet series wrapped up with the long awaited final book, Ghastly Mistake 6 (April, 2024). All the books are now in print paperback. The covers just glow!

Something I have been wanting to do for awhile is to offer the entire series in a bundled ebook collection which would contain all six books. That is now available at my website with a collection with the old covers and the new covers.

The fairytale ebooks got turned into audio dramas (March and April, 2024). This was a lot of fun to do as I got to work with several different narrators who used their voices to bring the characters to life. Personally, I think the audio dramas are very charming and there were a lot of fairytale creatures for my actors to sink their teeth into!

Knight of Cups, part of the College Fae series, got a new cover and audiobook (June 2024). I always love me a little Jib (the talking black cat that accompanies Brigit). This book didn’t make much of a splash but truthfully? The audio drama is hilarious!

It’s just a sad fact that sometimes your work won’t be seen, read, or heard but I don’t regret doing this as it prepares for next summer when the College Fae series will be revisited by me with new covers and perhaps a revised version (still under consideration).

Some of the better stories from my first book The Wicked Wolves and other Fairytales, were made into standalone ebooks and audio dramas only available at my website. Such as The Wicked Wolves of Windsor and Queen’s Favorite.

Another project was writing short stories in the Revisited Mystery Classic series (published May and August, 2024). This project was something I did in between books when I had some weeks to come up with some short stories that would re-envision some classic characters from mystery stories early in the 1900s.

It is an easy way to market myself on Amazon as readers often search for these books so it doesn’t require any advertising or promotion on my part to be seen.

Writing projects underway

The second half of the year was working on my contemporary Magical Realism story, Breathings of the Moon. I spent about four months working with a developmental editor, Mikeala Pedlow at Reedsy, and another three months polishing it. The book releases March 4, 2025.

Doing a developmental edit means the editor is working on the story, plot, and characters in a deep way and this was a great learning experience for me. Working with her really helped me grow as an author and this was an investment into myself.

I was still writing Moon when we worked together and that was also a first for me as I usually have a completed story before I reach out to an editor. But I wanted this experience to be something completely different creatively and it gave me a big payoff.

The finished book is brilliant! Probably the best thing I’ve written so far. There is a 3 chapter sample here. And it has opened for ARCS requests.

Website improvements

My website got a major upgrade and I’m adding some other features to make it easier to navigate. Most of the changes are about appearance and the addition of reviews from Amazon and Goodreads on the book pages so readers can see what other readers are saying about them. There are also reading samples up on all the book pages now. I really like this new look and hope you do to.

More changes are coming such as articles about my characters and inspiration behind why I wrote the stories.

Social Media

After experimenting with having someone else manage my social media (epic fail), I’ve decided to take a huge step back from both Instagram and Facebook. However, I am active on my private fan group at Facebook.

I’m focusing my efforts on reader-oriented platforms like Goodreads and Bookbub.

Reviewing Books

I had hoped to get back to reviewing books on a regular basis but it remains a feast or famine type of thing. I either binge read and review, or I don’t read because I’m overwhelmed but all the things I need to do.

However, when I review, I post them at Goodreads and Bookbub.

Looking towards 2025 plans

Next year is going to be very busy for me. Breathings of the Moon comes out in March and I have a year-long marketing promotion planned for it.

I’ve also started work on a new series, Viola Perigon. This is a revenge-Gothic inspired series that takes place in our world around the turn-of-the-century with a magic system.

I’m still working out the details on it, though the first book is now in a finished rough draft. Originally, I planned this to be a 6 book series, but it looks like it may end up being a 4 book series. I’ll update via my newsletter and website as things develop.

As you can see from my Workflowy 2025 calendar I’m already filling it up!

Looking back it was a tremendously productive year for me. I’m hoping to see more of this in 2025!
