Audio dramas for the sweet fairytale series provides a fresh perspective to these fairytale retellings. Using both male and female character voices, these audio dramas make the text come alive!

New audio dramas for the romantic fairytale retellings

While I was waiting on Madame Chalamet’s Ghastly Mistake #6 to come back from the editor, I decided to leap in and get both of the fairytale books converted into audio dramas. An audio drama differs from an audiobook as there are multiple voices that present a more dramatic reading of the story.

Eventually I’m planning on converting the Madame Chalamet books to audio, so I started with these smaller projects to try out the process, and discover what worked, and what did not. This process has taught me a lot about auditioning voice talent, how to make sure we are on the same page, and to create something that I feel adds dimension to the stories I’ve written.

Dance of Hearts is narrated by British voice talent, Rhonda Palno, Jane Wing, and James Brown. This is tale has a slow start as I was trying for a Jane Austen-like atmosphere in the book. It’s one to savor.

Rhonda narrated Melinda as well as some of the other female characters, every one sounds deliciously different! She also produced the drama, putting all the different narrative pieces together for the final book.

Jane Wing gave me the villagers, the fairy godmother, and a decidedly crabby Mrs. Davenport (the main female antagonist). James Brown did the hero as well as some of the other male characters. He was a swoon-worthy voice, perfect for Kaye.

Price of a Rose is narrated by Grace Winpenny and Richard Browning. This Beauty tale is a lot of fun and you can even have your kids listen in as the will love the fairy creatures and the sibling relationships.

Grace did an excellent job voicing the three sisters that are in the tale, giving them each a unique sound.

Rick blew me away with his many voice talents and on converting the book to audio, I realized that this one had a lot of odd fairy creatures and that made it even more fun to listen to Rick’s character acting.

From a writing standpoint, it helped me understand how minor characters can add dimension to a story with their personalities. Here is a small taste of the audio drama.

Fantasy of Manners genre with a splash of Jane Austen

Price of a Rose (Beauty and the Beast) and Dance of Hearts (Cinderella) have a Jane Austen-like feel. Both offer a Happily Ever After, with a fade-to-black romance that uses the original fairytales for inspiration.

In the Fantasy of Manners genre, there is magic, but the emphasis is on society and people’s relationships.

Where to buy the audio books

I paid the voice artists up front so I would have 100% ownership of the work. Most authors do a price-share with the narrators but I’m a control freak who wants to own my vision. It is what it is. But it means I pay more for audio book production.

So if you want to purchase, check out my webstore which bundles the ebook with the audio drama. When you buy directly from me, your purchase 100% supports my work. It’s available at online booksellers but I receive substantially less in revenue. However, if you prefer other audio book outlets, click on the title on book title for links: Price of a Rose, and Dance of Hearts.

If you want to shop my webshop and want discounts, be sure to join the newsletter where I’ll be sneding out some discount and coupon codes over the next few months.
