There’s a new audio drama for Knight of Cups, where a fae dryad and her talking cat get caught up in a curse at a French chateau. If you loved Jib, the puca cat featured in the College Fae series, I know you’ll love the audio drama. Jib’s voice cracks me up every time I listen!

Jib the talking cat speaks!

I’ve been working with a lot of different narrators for the audio dramas (the Sweet Fairytale Fantasy of Manners, and the Wicked Wolves series). It always gives me a thrill to hear them bring my words to life. So far Knight of Cups and Price of a Rose are my favorites! Probably because I find myself laughing during some of the conversations that take place and I love feeling happy.

Character voice actors for Knight of Cups includes Joy Hayworth (Brigit), Leo John C. Guinid (Jib), and Rick Browning (Knight, Hugh). The three did a fantastic job on this ghostly curse story.

An audio drama takes various character voices and puts them together in what gives the feel of an old radio play. While a one-person narration can be fantastic for listeners, especially if you have an accomplished narrator, an audio drama puts you in the action.

New cover for the College Fae fantasy book

Sharp readers will also realize that I have a new cover for this book. While I felt like the other cover was professionally done and fitted the story of a ghost knight and the Holy Grail well-maiden, it didn’t showcase the main characters of Brigit, the dryad, and Jib, the talking cat puca. Brigit and Jib are the stars of the story. Cover art by Justin Davis.

I’m working on changing all the covers to the College Fae series both in ebook and print. So if you like the old grab them now – or email me as I have a few copies that I will be discounting.

Why the new covers? One problem is the black model used for the original covers is now on a lot of fantasy books. I also feel she is older than the character of Brigit, and her skin color got lightened during the design process.

Probably the biggest reason for the change though is I want these YA books to appeal to a younger audience and reflect the feel these books have of adventures and friendship. Unfortunately, too many indie authors are publishing so-called ‘young adult’ books that have sex themes in them. YA books were originally a genre for coming-of-age stories, not Twilight-wanna-be’s.

I think this was one reason this series never took off. People were expecting a princess with a love triangle. Instead this is much more like Scooby Do and friends with a mix of humans and creatures from folklore.

For me personally, it was time for a change.

Making an audio book

All of my audio books use REAL PEOPLE for the character voices. NO AI. I support other creatives and their talents.

Each of the audio books was a financial investment, one which may never pay off. But I wanted to learn about how to make audio books as I do have plans in 2025 in converting all the Madame Chalamet books to audio books. Doing these smaller productions has really taught me a lot, from finding voice talent, to sending scripts, and finally to editing it in production.

Remember, if you love audio books, be sure to sign up to my newsletter as I do offer coupon codes and discounts to my followers.

I hope you love Jib and Brigit’s adventure as much as I do!
